These terms and conditions govern the services provided by DB Car Keys (“we”, “us”, “Dean Butler”), a mobile auto locksmith business registered in England. By booking or accepting a service from us, you agree to these terms.

1. Our Services

DB Car Keys provides mobile auto locksmith services including but not limited to:

  • Emergency vehicle unlocking
  • Spare car key cutting and programming
  • Lost car key replacement
  • Car key programming and immobiliser work
  • Transponder key cutting and programming
  • Broken key extraction
  • Immobiliser diagnostics
  • Key fob repair and replacement

All services are performed at your location within our coverage area of Devon, Dorset and Somerset. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.


2. Proof of Ownership

Before carrying out any work on a vehicle, we reserve the right to request proof that the vehicle belongs to you or that you have the legal authority to have work carried out on it. Acceptable proof includes:

  • Valid driving licence showing your name
  • Vehicle Registration Document (V5C logbook)
  • Insurance certificate showing your name and vehicle registration
  • Hire or lease agreement

We reserve the right to refuse service if satisfactory proof of ownership or authorisation cannot be provided. In such cases, any callout fee already incurred remains payable.


3. Pricing and Quotations

We aim to provide an upfront price before attending any callout. Prices quoted over the phone or by WhatsApp are estimates based on the information provided. The final price may vary if:

  • The vehicle details provided are incorrect or incomplete
  • Additional work is required that was not apparent from the initial description
  • Parts required differ from those initially anticipated
  • The job proves significantly more complex on arrival than described

We will always inform you of any change to the quoted price before proceeding with additional work.


4. Callout Fees

A callout fee may apply to cover travel costs. This fee is communicated before we attend. The callout fee is payable even if:

  • You cancel after we have departed for your location
  • You are unable to provide proof of vehicle ownership on arrival
  • The job cannot be completed due to circumstances outside our control (for example, severe vehicle damage preventing access)
  • You decide not to proceed with the work on our arrival

5. Payment

Payment is due on completion of work unless agreed otherwise in advance. We accept:

  • Cash
  • Bank transfer
  • Card payment (where available)

We do not extend credit. Work will not commence until payment terms have been agreed.


6. Cancellation

You may cancel a booking at any time before we depart for your location without charge. If you cancel after we have already set off, the callout fee is payable in full.

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule appointments in exceptional circumstances (for example, breakdown of our vehicle or unavoidable personal emergency). In such cases we will contact you as soon as possible and no charge will apply.


7. Guarantee on Workmanship

We stand behind our work. If a fault directly related to our workmanship arises within 30 days of the service being carried out, we will return to inspect and, where our workmanship is found to be the cause, rectify the issue at no additional charge.

This guarantee does not cover:

  • Faults caused by subsequent damage, misuse or accidents
  • Pre-existing faults with the vehicle’s electrical or mechanical systems
  • Key or fob damage caused after collection
  • Faults arising from third-party interference with our work
  • Normal wear and tear of components

8. Limitation of Liability

We take every reasonable care when working on your vehicle. However, our liability is limited as follows:

  • We are not liable for any pre-existing damage to your vehicle’s locks, ignition, electrical system or bodywork that is not caused directly by our work
  • We are not liable for any consequential losses, including loss of earnings, travel costs, or losses arising from being unable to use your vehicle
  • Our total liability in relation to any single job shall not exceed the amount paid for that job
  • We are not liable for damage caused by vehicles with pre-existing structural weaknesses or faults that were not disclosed or apparent

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.


9. Vehicle Condition

We will take reasonable care to avoid damage to your vehicle. However, in some situations — particularly emergency unlocking of older vehicles, vehicles with damaged door seals, or vehicles that have been subject to previous break-in attempts — there is a small risk of minor cosmetic marks to door seals or paintwork. We will inform you of any such risk before proceeding where it is apparent in advance.

We are not responsible for any damage to a vehicle that results from a fault that was pre-existing and not caused by our work.


10. Privacy and Data

When you contact us, we collect information such as your name, phone number, vehicle details and location solely for the purpose of providing our services. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

11. Intellectual Property

All content on the DB Car Keys website — including text, images, logos and design — is the property of DB Car Keys and may not be reproduced without written permission.


12. Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.


13. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these terms and conditions at any time. The current version will always be published on this page with the date of last update. Continued use of our services following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
